DiscoverTME is an academic research laboratory that seeks to discover new tumor microenvironment vulnerabilities, and to develop next-generation cancer therapies that target them. It is part of Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at University of Miami.

Targeting mitochondria transfer

We discovered that mitochondria transfer from astrocytes to tumor cells drives glioblastoma growth. Now we want to figure out how this happens and block it.

Glioblastoma tumors are highly heterogeneous. How do different tumor cells interact with the brain to acquire mitochondria and grow?

Complex immunotherapies

Immunologic responses result from integration of numerous signals, and are orchestrated in time and space. We leverage extracellular vesicles and protein engineering to recapitulate these characteristics for cancer therapy.
